These courses are available for people who wish to gain the knowledge and qualifications in order to enable them to assess the practical and knowledge skills of learners on vocational courses at levels 1, 2, or 3 either in a training centre or in a work-place.

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and practices of Assessment

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment (3 credits)    

A knowledge only award for those who need to develop their understanding of the principles and best practices in assessment.

Entry Requirements: There are no entry requirements but see above notes

Cost: £300

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment (3 credits) Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (6 credits)  

For those who wish to assess the achievement of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining of work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (witnesses), learners statements and recorded prior learning (RPL).

Entry Requirements: You are vocationally competent in the role you want to assess and also have access to 2 learners in vocational training.

Cost: £550

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment (3 credits) Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (6 credits) Unit 3: Assessing Vocational Skills Knowledge and Understanding (6 credits)

For those who need to be qualified to use ALL of the above listed assessment methods as well as achieving unit 3 assessing knowledge and understanding.

Entry Requirements: You are vocationally competent in the role you want to assess and also have access to 2 learners in both vocational training.

Cost: £750

Where and when will the training for these courses take place

All training sessions will take place at our Wigan Wallgate training centre (Head Office). Training sessions will take place on a Monday evening from 6.00pm and finish at 8.00pm.

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and practices of Assessment (1unit)
2 x evening sessions

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (2 units)
5 x evening sessions

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (3 units)
6 x evening sessions

How will the award be completed

You will work in small groups and receive help and support from your trainer who will deliver the necessary knowledge. Your trainer will also guide you on putting the evidence in a portfolio to demonstrate your competence as an assessor.

Course payments

The cost of all the above assessor courses include registration fees, assessment logbook and certificate (on successful completion). In order to secure a place on any of the above assessor courses all course fees must be paid in full at the time of booking a place.
