NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing Course
(for young people in year 1O and 11 at participating schools)
This is a two-year (term time) foundation hairdressing course leading to an NVQ hairdressing qualifications at Level 1 and includes the basics of:
- Health and safety
- Reception duties
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Assisting with colouring and perming
- Develop yourself within the job role
- Blow dry hair
- Plait, twist and put hair up
The course is also enhanced with opportunities to learn: (in house certificate)
- Basic make-up
- Basic manicure
The course provides enthusiastic young people with an exciting opportunity to acquire practical hairdressing skills and knowledge with hairdressing qualifications. During the course time will be spent gaining valuable work experience in a local hair dressing salon. Assessment of your skills and knowledge learned will be carried out at the training centre as well as your placement salon by qualified and experienced staff. At the end of the course you will be better prepared for the world of work and will be able to make a more informed choice about continuing in hair dressing, such as an apprenticeship after leaving school.
Apprenticeship after leaving school
Should you choose to continue with a career after leaving school Venture Learning will be able to support you on to an Apprenticeship programme. We will help you find either a job or placement in a local salon. As an apprentice you will either be paid a wage (currently £95 per week) or be able to apply for a training allowance and provided with training 1 day per week at one of our 5 training centres
(see apprenticeships).
